IDAD is inviting like-minded professionals, students and
executives to become active in corresponding with our
organization through SPLASHH (Survey of Professional
Landscape Architects Specializing in Hospitality and Hydroscapes).
Our endeavor is to locate, recognize and promote designers and
management professionals working in destination and tourism
hydroscapes globally. IDAD operates as a design association
and maintains linkages on the Worldwide Web. SPLASHH
functions as a studio instrument to measure unknowns and
make significant contacts which could lead to project development,
database compilation, IDAD polydisciplinary documents and
reports, and numerous products yet to be determined, related
to destination and hydroscape architecture and the host communities,
whose economies are dependent on sound environmental and
destination design.

The issue surrounding the SPLASHH initiative is to support IDAD
goals and objectives directly, while indirectly supporting practicing
destination and hydroscape architects. The need served by SPLASHH is
comprehensive and includes the incorporation of travel and tourism
knowledge in design as a key generator of resource protection. The
outcome is to meet known and projected needs in destination design
and cultivate bonds with coastal researchers. The urgency is recognition
that the hospitality, travel and tourism industry has grown into the
largest in the world, requiring ever-increasing services from designers.

SPLASHH proposes to heighten the role, placement and recognition
of IDAD and independent destination and hydroscape designers who serve
the industry. Participants in SPLASHH can benefit society by defining
and revealing the basic character of the polyspecialty.
