A. IDAD is guided by a small founding group of independent architectural professionals. Currently, the directors are the spokesmen for IDAD. IDAD has a small staff to oversee administration and member/professional relations. IDAD is, as of yet, not organized into chapters, and does not hold convention meetings. The point of contact for all members is the IDAD website.
Q. Does IDAD have organized chapters?
A. There are already many architecture and design organizations in place which meet as chapters throughout the world and our members attend these group events based on their field of training. IDAD members may form chapters and have support from the Institute.*
Q. What do I really get for my IDAD membership fee?
A. As a working professional, the primary benefit to you is visibility as a member. Additionally, you have a unique credential which defines you as a serious destination professional.
Q. Is IDAD a non-profit organization?
A. The organization is directed towards becoming a non-profit. It was organized to become such in order to keep administrative costs down. As a interim enterprise, IDAD sets membership fees at a level which is adequate to simply cover hard costs. It is not the intent of the IDAD to make a profit, but rather to cover costs.
Q. Do members have a say in how IDAD operates, and the direction it takes?
A. IDAD relies strongly on input from members. However, IDAD is management-driven rather than member-driven in its day-to-day operation.
Q. How does IDAD provide services to its members?
A. IDAD has in place a long-term strategy for building awareness among architectural and destination sectors. This strategy includes IDAD website links, news releases to firm-specific outlets, general information releases, trade show and event activities, contributions to member-related magazines and newsletters, and direct leadership in the field.
Q. Why does IDAD use PayPal for its membership transactions?
A. IDAD chose PayPal as its e-commerce provider in order to keep administrative costs down. Most e-commerce providers charge a monthly maintenance fee in addition to a per-transaction fee. PayPal charges only a per-transaction fee. Additionally, PayPal has been consistently rated superior in customer service when compared to other e-commerce providers and PayPal has a strong reputation for security.
Q. Will IDAD sell my membership information to third parties (email address, etc.)?
A. IDAD does not sell any membership information.
